Thought of the Day

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory - Dr Seuss

Kate Middleton - The New Style Icon

As from 29th Of April Kate Middleton has become the biggest fashion icon all over the world. Her sleek brown hair, hazel eyes & slim figure has caught everybody's eye. On the day of the future of Duchess of Cambridge wedding, she led a great mystery to which designers dress she'll be wearing. Many speculated for months until she gracefully got out of the car outside Westminster Abbey & there she was wearing a British designer dress, the wonderful Alexander McQueen. I believe everyone admired her for keeping the British tradition flowing through the wedding & how she didn't wear everything that was made by a top designer - making other women feel like they can look like a princess without all the designer labels on their wedding day. The dress made by a famous British designer, her earrings (which kept everyone wondering) from a little jeweller Robinson Pelham Jewellers Ltd, tucked away in Pimlico & 'White Gardenia Petals' perfume by Illuminum, a not so famous British brand.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton's wedding dress is now displayed in Buckingham Palace, in the centre of a ballroom & since it opened the place got 50 percent increase in visitors, which is the record setter since 1914. Kate has also set different records, by making the higher end fashion retail shop 'Reiss' website crash last year, after she was seen wearing the dress out for dinner with Wills. The same thing happened this year, but with a different high street shop, Topshop, when Kate wore a cream, polka dot dress out on duty.

The Duchess has developed into a new fashion idol, not only that but she is also a role model for young &  the old, because of her simplicity and kindness. Many paparazzi had caught Kate shopping in high street stores, such as 'Zara' & 'Reiss, which makes us, females feel like we can be princesses for a day, as we can easily copy her look. Kate Middleton does wear designer clothes too, such as Ralph Lauren & Vivienne Westwood, yet she always mixes the look up with some high street pieces. Ah that makes us love her even more!

Amy Childs from 'Towie' copied the Duchess' 'Zara' dress, that she wore on Gary Barlow's gig at the Royal Albert Hall. Even so called 'celebs' are copying the beautiful Kate, because in the end she does have great style. Nonetheless Amy didn't beat Kate's more subtle choice of an outfit; black tights, smart blazer & pervasive clutch, gave the dress a smarter, grown-up look.

After Kate married Prince William, she influenced many designers, public & the media, in a way that nobody has before, except Diana. Many recent wedding gowns are now fitted, with lace & very similar to Kate's. Dresses & other clothes in the hight street are alike to Kate's taste. She has become a number one trend setter in Britain. Even now when the Duchess is pregnant, she manages to look very chic & stylish. It's incredible how one person can influence so many.

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

The 2013 Campaign for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is astonishing. It makes me even prouder to be able to say I work for Ralph Lauren - the man who set up this wonderful charity in 1994, after losing a close friend to the disease.

In 1996, Breakthrough Breast Cancer launched Fashion Targets Breast Cancer in the UK, bringing together biggest names in fashion to fight this frightful illness.

To raise money they have also teamed up with UK's leading high street brands, Topshp, River Island, Marks & Spencer, Warehouse & a lot more. Especially designed products, such as dresses, t-shirts, bracelets etc. are sold in the UK stores & 30% of the price goes to the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer charity.

Last year the charity raised an incredible £12.5 million!

This charity is very close to my heart & I support it dearly.

So please donate, get involved & wear the support to fund Breakthrough Breast Cancer's lifesaving work.

DIETS - Biggest Obsession or Our Worst Habit

Diet is a word in every woman's dictionary. Over many centuries, diets have become a normal part of our lives, mostly women of course. Personally I am an expert on diets. I have tried & tested every diet there is available on Google. About a month ago I tried the grapefruit diet; this consisted of grapefruit for breakfast, grapefruit for lunch and grapefruit for dinner. Delightful. Sounds crazy doesn't it? I have also tried the Atkins diet, the no lactose for 10 days diet, the only eat fruit and veg diet, & the 5:2 diet...oh I could go on forever! But as always I ended up disappointed & hungry. Here we go again I think, eating chocolate & feeling guilty that I won't be able to fit into that little, white dress on my Birthday. I could barely afford that dress with my low, student income & therefore I am determined to wear it. It's my 21st Birthday for goodness sake, so I have to look good - at least a little better than some of my guests.

My boyfriend of three years thinks I am absolutely crazy to diet. He says, "Very skinny girls aren't attractive!" Hmm "very skinny" what about just skinny? He thinks Cheryl Cole and Rosie Huntington - Whiteley are hot. Yes, I thought he contradicted himself a little too. They are both the tiniest size 6 & he finds them good looking, therefore I've reached a conclusion, men do like skinny/slim females, no matter what they say to you! Of course they don't want a girlfriend who weights more than them. But let's be honest girls, we wouldn't want to go out with a man who carried another man in his belly.

At the moment I am looking for a perfect detox diet. I am laughing at my own words "perfect diet", what is that? Why are we (women) so obsessed to find that one diet or exercise regime, that might help us shed some pounds, and if they don't work why do we get angry at ourselves, like we have failed to achieve something incredibly big? Do we diet do it for ourselves, for men or to compete with other women? Maybe it's not us; it's the silly diets that make us buy all these expensive books & health magazines, for then to go crazy when somebody offers a piece of chocolate cake.

I am becoming a little too preoccupied with my diets and exercises, but it's very hard not to! I'm a fashion journalism student so I buy lots of magazines every month & in every one of those there is a new miracle diet or a new 'DO THESE EXERCISES FOR 10 DAYS & YOU'LL LOOSE A STONE', wow really? Well let me tell you this...it never works. We just tire our bodies out by depriving them of nutritions & over exercise them. The media & the fashion industry in particular, sets women very high standards of what they should look like - we have to be skinny, toned, but not too slim or toned, with big boobs, perfect hour glass figure, great skin & nice hair...

That is IMPOSSIBLE! We all can't look like Victoria Secret models, which have dietitians, personal trainers, hairdressers, make-up artists and a tone of money to make them look perfect every day.

So after many years of battling with diets & ludicrous work outs, I have accepted the fact that I will never look like a VS model or any model for that matter. I and every woman should love their bodies & themselves, because this is who you are & you cannot change it, well unless you have millions of plastic surgeries like Katie Price.

Eat healthy, exercise a little & be happy with who you are. I wake up every day feeling lucky, as I woke up & have legs, arms, wonderful family & boyfriend. So why should I should I be feeling sad because I've gained a couple of pounds?

Today is my treat day so I'm having a pizza, without counting the calories in my head or stressing out that I'm going to get fat...

Life is short so spend it wisely having fun instead of dieting & worrying what you look like 24/7.

Hope all women get there one day :) K x

New Beginnings

I felt inspired to write again...I thought that I have chosen my career and it definitely wasn't journalism or for that matter, anything to do with writing. But couple of weeks ago I had to choose whether to do a Dissertation or Final Major Project (writing a number of features for your or a chosen publication) for my final year of university. It proved to be a very tough decision for me, because I didn't believe in myself as a writer, therefore I chose the Dissertation. A week later, after the FMP lecture I became confused again, so I went out & bought lots of magazines thinking maybe something will spark up & I'll decide. Believe it or not it worked and I chose...I released I love being creative, I ADORE magazines & fashion & I always have millions of ideas in my head, to somehow be creative and think "Oh I want to write about this" or "This would be a great idea for a feature or a blog post". So yes I did choose Final Major Project and that inspired me to write again. I really have forgotten how much I love it. Hence I decided to recreate my blog. I am planning to write about fashion, lifestyle, and a little bit about what's going on in my life, also cute outfits of the day.

Hope you'll enjoy it :) K x
